Latrigg from Keswick

This little fell offers stunning, panoramic views of Derwent Water and Keswick. The route follows a well-defined path which steadily climbs to the summit. At the moment, this is a linear walk as paths through Brundholme Wood are closed due to damage caused by the 2015 floods. Information on when paths could reopen can be found here.

Start and End Location: Keswick Town Centre. There are numerous car parks in Keswick. Rawnsley Hall on Main Street, just before the Co-op is the closest to the start of the walk.

From Rawnsley Hall car park, turn right down Main Street.

Turn right onto Crosthwaite Road and then right again at Brundholme Road. As the road starts to climb, take the left hand public footpath, signed for Skiddaw.

Follow the gravel track and go through the wooden gate.

Continue straight ahead, ignoring any paths merging from the side. Great views of the lake and surrounding fells soon appear.

The path eventually bears left to cross a small stream and continues through a wooden gate.

After just under ¼ of a mile, turn sharp right, following the signpost for Latrigg Summit.

The well-defined track gradually climbs towards a bench.

Continue along the track, which bears left to climb to the summit. There are  impressive views across the Derwent Water, Keswick, Skiddaw and Bassenthwaite Lake.

After taking in the view, retrace your steps to Keswick.
